Dr Reddy’s Bachupally, Hyderabad unit
Dr Reddy’s Bachupally, Hyderabad unit received EIR (Establishment Inspection Report) from the USFDA which classified the unit as VAI (Voluntary Action Indicated).
VAI means that ‘objectionable conditions or practices were found during the inspection, but at this point USFDA will not take any administrative or regulatory action.’ VAI is generally issued when the regulator believes the response by the company is satisfactory. However, there could be a re-inspection of the facility.
The unit had received 10 observations back in October 2023. The clearance comes as a surprise, as the analysts back then were expecting an import alert.
