2016 Superbowl Cook Here How To Cook A Crock Pot Best Ever B... Hi ! Thanks for coming by and watching how I cooked up a Pork Shoulder or Pork Butt as its also called for this particular cut of pork for SUPER BOWL Sunday. This is completely a different way of how I have cooked Pork butts in the past .But I am sure I can pull this off
I prepped the night before .My prep consisted of covering the entire pork shoulder in mustard .Once its covered all the way around I take my spice rub of choice and cover the Pork butt . I wrap it and leave it overnight to let the spice make its way into the meat .
I also chose to add the BBQ sauce to it and let it set all night .You can wait to do this the next day to let your seasoning work longer ,
The pork shoulder comes from the upper part of the hog from like the name says its from the upper part of the shoulder from the front leg containing the blade bone in it .
I started first thing in the morning and was set to leave it for about 8 to 10 hours . I put it the fridge the night before I cooked it to let my seasoning work its way into the meat. I set it on low for a long cook to render down and just be fall off the bone tender just right for sandwiches and be ready just before kickoff .
From the fridge I took it to the crock pot and set it on high beginning at 9:30 AM and I also added about a coffee cup of water and liquid smoke and let it all simmer and slowly cook down and tenderize the whole cut of meat. How will you know when its done ?
The bone will easily pull out when its done. Once the Shoulder Bone pulls right out of the pork shoulder you know its ready to shred and make sandwiches.
