This video will improve your skills in bird watching when challenged with the identification of a bird in flight. I talk about my own birding skills built up over 50 years and how in an URBAN area I have managed to ID ( whilst watching visible migration, Vis-Mig) many usual birds in an Urban area like Green Sandpiper, Hawfinch, Grey Plover etc...
I also talk about Structure & shape and how to focus on key ID aspects of the flying bird like it's tail and wing shapes. There are a number of key bird books I talk about all relating to improving your skills in the flight identification of.
Another very important aspect of the flight identification of birds in flight is their bird calls. For beginners I ask you to learn 12 common birds songs and calls which will improve your knowledge and be better prepared for when you hear an unusual bird call.
There is a bird call challenge...will you have the skills to ID it?
I also talk about how my bird call tips helped a young birder find a number of rarities.
