Lagarde Says Aggressive Bets on Rate Cuts Don't Help the ECB: Davos 2024

European Central Bank President Christine Lagarde says aggressive bets in financial markets on interest-rate cuts aren’t helping policymakers in their task. “It is not helping our fight against inflation, if the anticipation is such that they are way too high compared with what’s likely to happen,” Lagarde said during a discussion at Bloomberg House on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum's annual meeting in Davos, Switzerland.
