Hallsands village was destroyed during
Hallsands village was destroyed during a winter storm in 1917,
There were two sisters from the Trout Family Ella and Patience who decided to build a new home on the cliff tops above the old village.
The sisters together with Blake Brothers the local builders laid a foundation stone in 1923 and built Prospect House which became their new home and was then extended and Trouts Hotel was established runing very happily until 1958 by which time Ella and Patience had passed away leaving their younger sister Edith alone at the hotel.
Sadly Edith became a recluse and Trouts Hotel fell into a very run down state.
Edith passed away in 1975 and the hotel was bought by Robin Rose Price who built it back up again before selling to Gill Norman who in turn sold it to Amanda Lubrani of Amara Estates in 2008 which brings it up to date as 16 cliff top apartments.
