Some on-ramps and off-ramps to the freeway or interstate are obstructed by trees, berms or other fixed objects. It is important for drivers to look as far down the freeway as possible and get their vehicle up to the posted speed limit, or the traffic flow, whichever is less.
In North America, the on-ramp transitions to the acceleration lane when the yellow line goes to white. At this juncture, you are on the acceleration lane and should be picking up speed.
When exiting the freeway, do not slow down until you are completely in the deceleration lane. Once there, then you can begin to slow the vehicle. If you are unfamiliar with the off-ramp, obey the cautionary signs so that you can maintain control of your vehicle.
