In this video, i'll be trying to photoscan pokemon action figures so i can use them for a short lil CGI film in blender. For this video i went all in and tried all kinds of photoscanning methods with the help of our sponsors KIRI Engine. I photoscanned objects with a dslr, with a cheap smartphone, with an expensive smartphone, i tried a polariser on a dslr too. I tried scanning using a turntable method, i tried photogrammetry using markers. I tried making NERfs or Featureless Scans as KIRI Engine likes to call them. NERFs are great but they cannot generate 3D models. And Photoscanning Featureless Shiny Objects is really difficult. So Kiri Engine uses Neural Surface Reconstruction Algorithm to make 3d meshes out of featureless objects. I love making short films in blender and i always had this vision for a pokemon themed short film in blender. I obviously cannot sculpt pokemons. I don't know how to sculpt at that level. I Don't even know how to 3d model at that level either. But i do know how photoscan them or use photogrammetry to capture them.
The pokemons covered in this video are - Pikachu, Venusaur, Charmander, Chansey, Primeape, Blastoise, Jigglypuff, Snorlax and Gengar. All the action figures were either found on amazon or on thepeppystore or etsy. This is a CGI 3D Short Film made in blender feature 3D CGI Pokemons. Good Realistic 3d scanning or photoscanning and photogrammetry tutorials are hard to find.
