The Diplomats, also known as Dipset, is a hip hop group from Harlem, New York, formed in 1997 by friends Cam'ron and Jimmy Jones. Originally, the group consisted of Cam'ron, Jim Jones, and Freekey Zekey, who all grew up together in Harlem. Later in 1999, another Harlem rapper named Juelz Santana joined the group. In 2001, after Cam'ron signed a deal, the group secured a record deal with Roc-A-Fella Records. They began working on their first album, Diplomatic Immunity, which was released in March 2003 on Roc-A-Fella Records. Due to issues between Cam'ron and Jay-Z, they parted ways with Roc-A-Fella Records and signed with Koch Records, a smaller label. Their second album, Diplomatic Immunity 2, was released in November 2004 with Koch Records.
