This was a great visit with Hailley, a self cracking high school student.

I love first time adjustments, ESPECIALLY when it's with someone who cracks their own back or neck.

Some people can get pretty close to self cracking their entire spine. But even the most dedicated yogi's get stuck from time to time.

Here's the basics of self cracks.

1) Don't force it. No sudden quick or aggressive pulling/ pushing of your spine and neck. This is the easiest way to injure yourself.

2) Cracking more than once a day is probably excessive. Wake up in the morning, drink 2-3 glasses of water and warm up your spine with some gentle yoga. Most yoga practices will dynamically align the hypermobile segments and even potentially un-stick hypomobile segments.

3. Pay attention to how your spine cracks. If it only cracks in one direction, this is an indication that your posture is off. And you can probably find a few daily habits that perpetuate the asymmetry.
