I've been lucky to have had a few "too good to be true" deals fall into my hands, and this 2006 Honda CRF50 was one of them. Talking with a co-worker one day, he mentioned how he "had an old Honda sitting in the garage he needed to get rid of". That's a sign to pounce! After he said "I'd probably want 3 or 400 dollars for it", I bought it sight unseen as any Honda that runs is worth twice that amount. Turns out this bike was in pristine condition, and only needed a replacement fuel petcock and carb rebuild kit to be back up and running as there was fuel sitting in the tank for nearly 10-years.
The CRF50 is a great bike for just about anyone, and for this one, I kept it stock so my kids could use it as a trail bike or play bike, as they're not really made for racing nor are they competitive at the track. So to make it fun and have a little family project to work on with my boys, I decided to create a "kids build" and start with a really unique graphics kit from Rival Ink, and a very nice matching seat cover from Thrill Seekers. The graphics kit I chose is in the style of a Cat tractor, which wouldn't have gone well with the original red plastics and seat cover, so we went with a black UFO oem replica plastics kit to give it a suitable blank canvas.
