The solar conjunction takes place
The solar conjunction takes place every two years. Mars takes 687 days to complete one orbit around the Sun, while a speedier Earth takes 365 days. During their orbit around the star, Mars and Earth will end up on opposite sides of the star for a period of about two weeks. For those two weeks, the two planets are invisible to one another. Recently a two weeks communication blackout was caused by Mars solar conjunction in the initial weeks of October.
