In this calculus video I will show you how to find the critical numbers or critical points of a function.
Critical numbers occur when f'(x) = 0 or when f'(x) does not exist as in the case of a corner points or cusp points.
To find the critical number, first you have to find the first derivative of the function.
Set f'(x) = 0 and solve it for x.
Check if f'(x) DNE.
In the graph of the function critical points happens when tangent line is HORIZONTAL or VERTICAL or the points that we cannot draw tangent line, like cusp points.
