In today's video, we will be making a corner to corner (C2C) scarf. If you are intimidated by this scarf, don't be. It's not as hard as it looks. Sherwood Forest Stripes Yarn➡️ https://amzn.to/3mHYdj9

CORNER TO CORNER STRIPES SCARF

You will need:
-Scissors
-Size J/6.0 MM Crochet Hook
-Stitch Marker
-Tapestry Needle
-1-2 skeins of yarn (Stripes)

Row 1: ch 6, dc in 4th chain from hook, dc in next two chains (1st block = 1st row)

(Rows 1-9 are Increase Rows)

Row 2: ch 6, dc in 3rd chain up, dc in next two chains, sl st into ch3 space, ch 3, 3 dc into same space (2 blocks)

Row 3: ch 6, dc in 3rd chain up, dc in next two chains, *sl st into ch 3 space, ch 3, 3 dc into same space, repeat once from * (3 blocks)

Row 4: ch 6, dc in 3rd chain up, dc in next two chains, *sl st into ch 3 space, ch 3, 3 dc into same space, repeat twice from * (4 blocks)

Row 5: ch 6, dc in 3rd chain up, dc in next two chains, *sl st into ch 3 space, ch 3, 3 dc into same space, repeat thrice from * (5 blocks)

Row 6: ch 6, dc in 3rd chain up, dc in next two chains, *sl st into ch 3 space, ch 3, 3 dc into same space, repeat 4 times from * (6 blocks)

Row 7: ch 6, dc in 3rd chain up, dc in next two chains, *sl st into ch 3 space, ch 3, 3 dc into same space, repeat 5 times from * (7 blocks)

Row 8: ch 6, dc in 3rd chain up, dc in next two chains, *sl st into ch 3 space, ch 3, 3 dc into same space, repeat 6 times from * (8 blocks)

Row 9: ch 6, dc in 3rd chain up, dc in next two chains, *sl st into ch 3 space, ch 3, 3 dc into same space, repeat 7 times from * (9 blocks)

Row 10: ch 1, turn work, sl st into 3 dc just made in previous block, sl st in ch3 space, ch 3, 3 dc into same space, repeat from * across the row (9 blocks)

 At this point we have increased the length of the scarf but maintained the width.

 LAY WORK AT 90 DEGREE ANGLE AND PLACE STITCH MARKER ONTO THE BOTTOM BLOCK ON SHORTEST SIDE

NOTE: INCREASE (ch 6  place 1 dc into the 3rd chain up and place 1 dc into the next 2 chains) on the taller edge and MAINTAIN (ch 1  4 sl st) on the shorter edge. Don’t forget that the side you are maintaining is marked by the stitch marker!
Repeat this pattern until the scarf is to your desired length. Fyi, I repeated for approximately 78 rows.
(Rows 10-78 are Maintenance Rows)

Row 79: Work blocks along the row as normal but when it’s time to create the LAST block for that row, sl st into the ch3 space and ch 1 (we are now leveling off the top of the scarf). Turn work and sl st into next 3 dc of previous block, sl st into ch3 space, ch 3, 3 dc into same space. Work across the row as normal and treat EACH edge as a non-increase/MAINTAIN/decrease row (8 blocks).

Row 87 (CREATING THE FINAL BLOCK/CORNER OF THE SCARF): ch 1, turn work. Sl st back across 3 dc and into ch3 space. Ch 3, 3dc into same space, sl st into ch3 space, ch 1, fasten off.
Weave in tails.

Even though the Atreyu Crochet channel is for beginners, I think it's not only a good idea but necessary to build upon the basics. The great thing about crocheting is that even the most complicated of patterns can still be broken down to the very basics of crocheting.

Don't ever approach a crochet pattern with doubt. Simply break down the pattern and approach it one stitch at a time. If a stitch is foreign to you, then find a YouTube tutorial on it, learn the stitch, and resume with the pattern. Although our starting point is that of a beginner, it is also true that that is not our destination.

Happy Crocheting! :)
