Size: Adult African spurred tortoises can reach lengths of up to 30 inches (76 cm) and can weigh over 100 pounds (45 kg).
Lifespan: These tortoises have a long lifespan, with some living up to 100 years or more in captivity.
Diet: In the wild, African spurred tortoises eat grasses, leaves, and other vegetation. In captivity, their diet should consist primarily of leafy greens, hay, and other high-fiber foods.
Behavior: African spurred tortoises are generally docile, but can become aggressive if they feel threatened or stressed. They are also known for their love of digging, and will often create burrows in which to rest and shelter from the heat.
