Using The QuickBooks Register Window In QuickBooks Desktop

QuickBooks Desktop provides a register
QuickBooks Desktop provides a register window for each bank type of account and each credit card type of account that you input to your chart of accounts. It looks just like the old bank register books from before the days of the computer. It was designed that way because bookkeepers could see every transaction they recorded in to the bank account or company credit card account all on the same page that shows the running balance of the account after each transactions. In QuickBooks, the register window allows you to both record checks and deposits in the same window that you see every transaction. Listed and the running balance. This window gives one the ability to add and edit transactions while immediately seeing its effect in the account and in the reports. These register windows are really shortcuts. When you record something into the register, you are really recording the transaction in either the write checks window or make deposit window. The register is just a user interface that brings those 2 transactions together. That’s why, when you open a check or deposit that you recorded in the register from a report, the register window does not open. Instead, the checks window or deposit window opens for any past transaction that was originally recorded in the bank register window. You can sort the register by date or order entered to help find transactions with date mistakes. The register window has 1 unique ability. It’s the only window where you can mark a check or deposit as cleared or uncleared except for the bank reconciliation window. So, if you re-record a check that was cleared then deleted, you must go back to the register window and mark it as cleared.
