in a statement, actor and singer David Soul's wife Helen Snell announced his death at the age of 80. Soul was most recognized for his part in the TV series Starsky & Hutch.

It was in the presence of cherished family that David Soul, "beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother," passed away yesterday following a courageous fight for life, according to her statement. As an actor, singer, storyteller, creative, and friend, he gave the world many wonderful things.

"The lives he touched will be remembered by those who smiled, laughed, and were passionate about life." From 1975 to 1979, the British-American actor and singer was renowned for his portrayal as Detective Kenneth 'Hutch' Hutchinson on Starsky & Hutch. In the years 1968–1970, he appeared on Here Comes the Brides as Joshua Bolt.

The Yellow Rose's Roy Champion and 1973's Magnum Force's Officer John David were two of his other roles. As a vocalist, he achieved considerable success with singles like "Don't Give Up on Us" and "Silver Lady," which peaked at number one in the UK.David came into this world in 1943 in the American city of Chicago. His father, Dr. Richard W. Solberg, was a senior representative for Lutheran World Relief during the post-war reconstruction of Germany and a Lutheran preacher. He also served as the director of higher education for the Lutheran Church in America. This meant that David spent a lot of his childhood moving around.

In his youth, he split his time between Mexico City and South Dakota. The fellow students at the University of the Americas who gave him guitar lessons were a major influence on him. After deciding to pursue music as a career, he had his debut performance in a Minneapolis bar.

In the mid-1960s, he joined the Firehouse Theater and started acting professionally. David appeared in numerous shows while touring with the company, but it was in the late 1960s, playing the role of the Covered Man on The Merv Griffin Show, that he initially got notice. His first appearance on television was in Flipper not long after that. After signing with Columbia Pictures in 167, he had a guest appearance on Star Trek and then landed a role in Here Come the Brides. He was Arthur Hill's legal partner on the 1970s sitcom Owen Marshall: Counselor at Law.

Clint Eastwood quickly cast David in the film Magnum Force, and David's career took off. Starsky & Hutch was his first film appearance; he and Paul Michael Glaser reprised their parts in the 2004 remake, which also starred Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson.

David enjoyed successful musical careers in his spare time. His songs "Don't Give Up on Us" and "Silver Lady" both peaked at number one in the United States and the United Kingdom, respectively. Two of his albums reached the top ten in the UK between 1976 and 1978, while five of his singles did the same. He went so far as to tour the globe in the '70s and '80s.With the publication of Gold in 2020, David had a total of seven albums: five studio albums and one compilation.

David has a brood of five boys and a daughter from his five marriages. In the early 1960s, he wed Mirrirm 'Mim' Solberg; they had a son together. After a year of being together, they broke up. After meeting on Here Come the Brides, he wed Karen Carlson in 1968.

They had a child together but broke up nine years later. In an open relationship with Lynne Marta, he was filming Starsky & Hutch. He wed Petti Carnel Sherman, who had been Bobby Sherman's ex-wife and co-star in Here Comes the Bride, in 1980. He wed Julia Nickson seven years after their short marriage ended.

China Soul, the couple's daughter, became a singer like her famous father. Afterwards, he wed Helen Snell in 2010. In 2002, they began dating after meeting on the set of Deathtrap, a British production. In 2004, he was granted British citizenship.

His affection for the United Kingdom was a subject of his discussion. "Britain is beautiful," he told MailOnline in 2015. I really enjoy the desolation of Dartmoor and the rest of south Devon. Being in a country rich with history is something I really enjoy. My daughter resides here, but I visit the United States three times a year to see my five sons.
