Martial arts like judo, BJJ, aikido, kendo, kenjutsu, iado, daito ryu aiki jujutsu, and other nihon jujutsu and sword styles are “descendants” of the samurai hand to hand and sword fighting arts of jiu-jitsu and ken-jitsu respectively.

The samurai never practiced karate. Karate was developed independent of the samurai in Okinawa.
