Welcome to our Mazey Day reaction! This is the fourth episode of Black Mirror season 6 and oh boy! We were definitely not expecting this from a Black Mirror episode. First time watching this and we have to say this episode has some top notch performances from Zazie Beetz, Clara Rugaard & Danny Ramirez. It gives us some more social criticism this time targeted at the paparazzi and how we as consumers have a say in what is right or wrong. We hope you enjoy as we react and have a discussion regarding the meaning of this episode.
In a day and age where everyone is a paparazzi this episode takes a look back at a time where forging photos or creating deepfakes was much harder. But the consequences still spread like wildfire.
This is technically a RED MIRROR episode but the creators chose not to disclose that as an effort to not give away anything about the plot. Even though this was a smart move I'm hesitant to say it didn't play a part on how this episode was perceived.
These new episodes with a tone that leans into the Horror genre are an effort from the creators to divorce themselves from what the show is meant to be. As artists ourselves we respect the bold move but we also understand how it would've been better to just classify this episode as something outside of the traditional for a Black Mirror episode.
All in all this season has been fantastic. Great acting all around, interesting premises and some deep criticisms that don't shy away from pointing the Black Mirror at ourselves.
