A Travelogue on parts of Odisha including Rambha, Chilika Lake, Nirmaljhar and some lesser known places in Ganjam district for sights of Black Bucks - the endangered Antelope species. The video presents some beautiful views Chilika Lake, hills and forest lands of Ganjam district, historical temple complex of Nirmaljhar and pictures of Black Bucks. In Monsoon also, a short tour can be planned from Kolkata, to visit the these parts of Odisha, where you have lakes, hills, forests, wildlives and sea beaches. This time of the year the forests and hills of Odisha come to their best.

The time of travel was July 2019, during monsoon. We do not encourage or discourage travel during the Covid situation. All you have to follow Govt regulations and safety measures.
Rambha is a beautiful tourist spot just beside Chilika Lake. The vast water surrounded by the hills and dotted with few small islands just look amazing. Chilika, spread across 1100 sq. km, is the largest salt water lake or lagoon in Asia. A boat ride for few hours on Chilika lake to visit to few islands, is just an awesome experience. Stay at OTDC Panthanivas at Rambha, just beside Chiika, for couple of days, is also fascinating as well as refreshing experience. One can reach Balugaon station from Howrah by Chennai bound trains and from there take an auto to reach Rambha in less than 1 hour. The distance is 34 km.

Just 30km from Rambha, are lesser known villages like Barsara and Sanbandh. A 3-4 sq. km area in a valley surrounded by small hills of Eastern Ghats, around these small villages in the Khalikote range of Odisha’s Ganjam district, where you can see Blackbucks in plenty, freely roaming around the fields. This is the newly discovered ‘Black Buck kingdom’ of Odisha, and still remain in the shades of the fame of more famous Bhetnoi. The location of this area is even untraceable in Google map till date. Black Bucks or Krishnasar Mriga are beautiful, but endangered species of Indian Antelopes. One has to take an Auto ride from Rambha Panthanivas to have this Black Buck Safari. Just few km ahead of Barsara there is a wonderful historical Temple Complex surrounding a natural spring, at Nirmaljhar. Almost 400 years' old temples of Odisha style are of some significant historical importance also.
