Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, graced the inauguration ceremony of the state's eighth Assembly earlier today. The event, which took place at the State Assembly Complex in Awka, marked the beginning of a new era for the legislative arm of the State Government.
During the inauguration, the member representing Ogbaru Two Constituency in the Anambra State House of Assembly, Somtochukwu Udeze, emerged as the Speaker. His election was unanimously affirmed by the legislators through a voice vote, signaling a united front for the new Assembly.
The Governor, who witnessed the proceedings, expressed his satisfaction with the election of the new Speaker and the affirmation of his appointment by members of the Assembly. He added that it was an indication of the readiness of the lawmakers to work harmoniously with the executive arm of the government to move the state forward.
The member representing Awka South Two Constituency, Hon Chukwuma Okoye, was also elected as the Deputy Speaker of the House, further consolidating the Assembly's leadership structure.
