Learn how to make an
Learn how to make an easy to crochet chunky scarf for beginners in this easy crocheted scarf tutorial! This is a great crochet project for beginners because the stitches are placed in the stitch spaces between two stitches, rather than in the tops of the stitches as usual. I chose a chunky yarn for this pattern because as a beginner, thicker yarns make it easier to see your stitches clearly, and using a fatter yarn means the scarf will work up faster. You can make this scarf in any width and length you like. Since we aren't relying on stitch count, no need to worry about gauge.
I'll also walk you through Crocheting the Herringbone Half Double Crochet Stitch, which is one of the easy crochet stitches to use for scarves, and it works so beautifully here. This scarf is one of my go-to weekend crochet projects, as well as one of my favorite fall crochet projects. I hope it makes it to the top of your list as well!

Measurement: 6.75" width and 61" length
Yarn I used: Red Heart Soft Essentials Stripes in Linen Stripe
Yarn amount I used: I used a little over 2 and 1/4 balls or 248yds
Hook Size I used: size L 8mm metal Hook
You will need to buy about 3-4 balls of a level 5 bulky weight yarn for a scarf of the same size, depending on how tight or loose you crochet. More details in free pattern, linked above and in comments. Yarn linked below.
