Alyssa's Story

When Alyssa Collins shattered her leg in a soccer game in fifth grade, she thought that the worst of her injury was past her. Little did she know that healing from her injury would be a 5 year journey, made up of rare diagnoses, complicated surgeries and countless hours of rehabilitation. But Alyssa's love for gymnastics is what drove her through all the pain. Now, 16, Alyssa is once again competing in competitions through help from UPMC Sports Medicine. Her inspiring story exemplifies how hard work, a positive outlook and a driven spirit can make dreams come true.
