This is a sweet and sour chutney that is used as a condiment to many food and also along with chaat items. Click on "show more" below for detailed recipe. Ingredients: 7 ounce tamarind(available in indian grocery stores); 3 cups water; 1 1/4 cup sugar; 1 tsp black pepper powder; 1/2 tsp chat masala powder(available in indian grocery stores); salt to taste; 1/2 tsp red chilli powder; 1/2 tsp roasted cumin powder(check my dahi vada video to on how to make roasted cumin powder -   • Dahi vada/Dahi bhalla  ); Bring 3 cups of water to boil and add the tamarind. Boil for 2 more minutes and then turn off the flame. Let it sit for for atleast 30-40 minutes. After 40 minutes, mash well with a fork. Strain the pulp through a sieve to remove the seeds and fiber. Now add sugar, black pepper powder, salt, roasted cumin powder, red chilli powder, chat masala powder and mix well. This chutney can be refrigerated for 2-3 months.
