Background: Sony Group Corporation, commonly known as Sony and stylized as SONY, is a Japanese multinational conglomerate corporation headquartered in Kōnan, Minato, Tokyo, Japan. As a major technology company, it operates as one of the world's largest manufacturers of consumer and professional electronic products, the largest video game console company and the largest video game publisher. Sony Entertainment Inc, is one of the largest music companies (largest music publisher and second largest record label) and the third largest film studio, making it one of the most comprehensive media companies. It is the largest technology and media conglomerate in Japan. It is also recognized as the most cash-rich Japanese company, with net cash reserves of ¥2 trillion.

Funded in 1946, Sony, with its 55 per cent market share in the image sensor market, is the largest manufacturer of image sensors, the second largest camera manufacturer, and is among the semiconductor sales leaders. It is the world's largest player in the premium TV market for television of at least 55 inches (140 centimetres) with a price higher than $2,500 as well as the second largest TV brand by market share and, as of 2020, the third largest television manufacturer in the world by annual sales figures.

Sony also produces the Walkman audio player, the Bravia OLED television, the a6000 mirrorless interchangeable-lens camera, the Xperia phone and tablet, the VAIO laptops, the Trinitron CRT Television, the front-loading Betamax C35 video recorder with a chordless remote control and with a three-year warranty, the passport size Handycam Camera and the PlayStation console, the company also owns Columbia Pictures, TriStar Pictures, Affirm Films, Screen Gems, Stage 6 Films, Sony Pictures Animation, Sony Pictures International Productions, Sony Pictures Entertainment, Scream Gems and Sony Pictures Releasing International, as well as Sony Pictures Home Entertainment and Sony Pictures Television Studios.

Over the past 44 years, Sony had six slogans, these include "The One and Only", "It's a Sony", "Like.no.other", "Make.believe", "Be moved" and "We are Sony".
