Having returned to the shop,
Having returned to the shop, we tore apart the blown turbo and inspected the rest of the engine to see if anything else may have been affected. But just as we had speculated, only the turbo failed and no other components were damaged.
The turbo replacement process is generally something left for avid enthusiasts/tuners, but we wanted to go over the rigorous conditions we encountered on track and what we plan on doing to tackle these problems.
A bigger radiator and an external oil cooler look to be next on the list of mods, so we can continue to push the limits and find the next weakest link. Furthermore, an oil temperature gauge is a great idea.
We have already started on getting Ol' Blue up and running so stay tuned! And expect more updates as we continue our quest on providing you expert knowledge and teaching you how to enjoy your L15B7 while making sure the turbo lasts on hot track days!
