The Chunchan Katte fair, held post-harvest, stands as one of the most celebrated cattle fairs in South India. It attracts participants not only from the Mysore district but also from Mandya, Hassan, Chamarajanagar, Ramanagara, Tumkur, Kolar, Kodagu, and various other districts. During this event, people flock to the market to sell their cattle, turning Chunchanakatta into a bustling hub.
The fair enjoys a stellar reputation within Karnataka and beyond its borders. Farmers from distant districts, such as Gadag, Hubli, Dharwad, Gulbarga, Vijapur, and Davangere, as well as from other parts of the country, including Andhra, Maharashtra, and Tamil Nadu, converge here. This year, favourable weather conditions, marked by abundant rainfall and water availability in the canal, have contributed to the prosperity of farmers who have cultivated various crops, including a substantial quantity of paddy.
