Heterotopic Gray Matter

These multiplanar CT images demonstrate periventricular nodular areas of hyperdensity which are isodense to the cortex . Findings are compatible with gray matter heterotopia. This abnormality represents disruption of the normal migration of gray matter. In the evaluation for causes of seizure, this is an important finding to recognize.  Gray matter heterotopia is associated with other structural abnormalities of the brain which are also seen here such as agenesis of the corpus of callosum. The lateral ventricles have a parallel appearance on axial images and “long-horn” appearance on coronal images consistent. On sagittal images, no corpus callosum is seen.
