In this History For Humans episode,  students learn about the causes of the French and Indian War and how it led the American Revolutionary War. It explains why the British and French competed for the Ohio River Valley and how Indian tribes became involved in the conflict.  When a young George Washington was sent into the Ohio Country to stake claims for Virginia, he issued the opening shots of the first global war, constructed Fort Necessity, but soon surrendered and returned home.

The video teaches a few of the major battles and how after two years of disaster, William Pitt's leadership helped the British win the war after the Battle of Quebec and Montreal.  The Treaty of Paris gave the British control over all of French Canada, Spanish Florida and Spain gained the Louisiana Territory- removing the French from the continent!
The episode also explains why this war led to the American Revolution- with Pontiac's Rebellion and the Proclamation of 1763 causing a major rift between the colonists and King George III that would be worsened by taxes on essential items.  A revolution was brewing- but thats the next episode!
