Previously, BMW offered the 7 Series G70 as an M Performance model with a plug-in hybrid powertrain. However, at the Auto Shanghai 2023 in China, the automaker announced the i7 M70, which does away with the combustion engine and is an all-electric powerhouse.
Equipped with a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive system, the i7 M70 boasts an incredible 650 horsepower and 811 pound-feet of torque (1,100 Newton-meters) when the M Launch Control or M Sport Boost function is activated. Even in Sport mode, this electric sedan still delivers an impressive 748 lb-ft (1,015 Nm) of torque.
With these specs, the i7 M70 becomes the quickest electric BMW ever, taking just 3.5 seconds to go from 0 to 60 mph (96 km/h) and 3.7 seconds to reach 62 mph (100 km/h) from a standstill. The car continues to accelerate until an electronic top speed limiter kicks in at 155 mph (250 km/h).
Despite its weight, tipping the scales at 5,929 pounds for the US model or 2,695 kilograms in the European version, the BMW i7 M70 is an impressive machine that combines luxury with power. So, join us as we take a closer look at this electrifying BMW i7 M70.
