Israeli soldiers welded the doors
Israeli soldiers welded the doors shut to a Palestinian family’s house in Al-Shuhada Street in the centre of Hebron on Monday, while the mother was out grocery shopping and her children were still inside.
The soldiers tried to justify the closure by claiming that the door was closed and reopened a year and a half ago, but the family have lived there for 12 years.
According to residents, Al-Shuhada Street has been filled with Israeli checkpoints and Palestinians suffer from closures of many houses and shops. The closure of the Al-Bayed family’s house came as a result of the security tightening ahead of the Jewish holiday of Purim, which is celebrated by the Israeli settlers and soldiers in the area.
