The first episode of the
The first episode of the Hausu Radio Drama.
Believe it or not, before the movie Hausu (or simply known as "House") was released, a radio drama based on the film was released a year before it. It's very different from movie, as it's more like a revenge thriller.
For example, there is no evil mystical white cat but instead but a sinister butler and the watermelon salesman works directly under Auntie. Also the girls die in different deaths, Auntie isn't called "Auntie" here and her fiance actually is named in this adaptation (here he is called "Lieutenant Gosuke Kurogami") Also her motive for killing the girls isn't random, but because their all descendants of the men who killed her brother Gosuke. Oh yeah that's another thing, Auntie's fiance isn't a fiance but instead her brother here. Weird.
The plot here follows seven girls (all named Oshare, Sweet, Mac, Galli, Kung Fu, Melody, and Fanta) are all invited to visit Kurogami's mansion in the countryside by their teacher named Mr. Togo. In that house there lives an old woman who lost her younger brother Lieutenant Gosuke Kurogami in the war, and kills girls who are blood relatives of the seven men involved in her brother's death. However, the death of Lieutenant Kurogami is no one's fault, and it ends as a tragedy (against resentment) that was the result of glorifying his death by an old woman who was his only relative .
The success of the radio show however meant that Hausu could work and as such, Toho finally greenlit the movie and thus we have the infamous batshit crazy cult movie that is Hausu today. The radio show aired only once and ONLY once but Ai Matsubara (who was also in the movie) had the radio show with her and posted it years ago. It wasn't available anywhere else, so I figured it would be best if I posted it on here.
