Mechanism of Leaf Senescence

Leaf senescence is is the gradual deterioration of leaves due to the degradation of leaf contents like degradation of chlorophyll or degradation of Chloroplast maintainer genes.
This is a complex process where several genes are involved of which ORE1 is one of the important genes to focus on. The Leaf senescence is mediated by Senescence associated genes ( SAGs).
And this leaf senescence is initiated by the response from Phytohormones.
