Here's a look at my DIY Whole House water filtration system using Pentek Big Blue filter housings as well as a GE Filter housing system. A very, very rough estimate of the filter housing and filters as well as the brackets I used to hang them with runs about $500 for the setup that I installed. The plumbing as I did it is likely another $200-250. Of course, all of this is DIY and other odds and ends might need to be purchased.
