Materials:

inkjet shrink plastic
paper punch or scissors
1/4"" hole punch
child's drawings
ribbon
jingle bells

Instructions:

1. Select a child's drawing.  Abstract, scribbled drawings work great for this project.

2. Photocopy onto ink-jet friendly shrink plastic.  Make certain to lighten the drawing at least 50% -- the image colors become brighter and darker as the plastic shrinks.

3. Punch or cut shapes from the printed shrink plastic.

4. Write your child's name and the year on the back of each shape.  Use a permanent marker.

5. Punch a hanging hole in each shape.

6. Place on a parchment paper lined baking sheet.

7. Bake in an oven pre-heated to 275 degrees F for 3 to 5 minutes, and at least 30 seconds after the ornaments have laid flat.  During the baking process the plastic will curl dramatically and then uncurl, laying flat.

8. Remove from the oven and allow to cool.  If the ornaments are still slightly curled, press them flat with the bottom of a cup or bowl before they cool.

9. Cut hanging loops from thin ribbon.  Thread through the ornament's hanging hole and optionally include a small jingle bell.
