1 head of iceberg lettuce, chopped
1 red onion, chopped
10 oz. package of grape tomatoes, halved
6 to 8 Hard-boiled eggs, sliced
10 oz. package frozen peas, thawed and drained well
9 oz. package of real bacon bits
8 oz. block of sharp cheddar cheese, grated
salt and black pepper for sprinkling

Dressing:
1 cup mayonnaise like Duke’s or Hellmann’s or plain greek yogurt
1 cup sour cream
2 tablespoons granulated sugar or honey
2 to 4 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
salt and black pepper for sprinkling

In a large glass bowl or trifle dish (make sure it’s at least that large one) were going to do some layering with the ingredients.
First layer is the lettuce add it to the bottom of the bowl in an even layer.
Add a pinch of salt and pepper over the lettuce.
Second layer is the chopped red onion.
Third layer is the halved tomatoes.
Fourth layer is the boiled sliced eggs, Arrange the egg slices around the sides of the bowl, pressing them into the side so they stick. After that put some in the middle too.
Add another sprinkle of salt and pepper over eggs.
Fifth layer is the peas.
Sixth layer is the real bacon bits.
Seventh layer is the grated cheese.

In a mixing bowl, whisk the mayo, sour cream, vinegar, sugar, salt, and pepper until smooth. Distribute the dressing evenly over the salad on top of all the cheese layer.

Cover with plastic wrap and chill in the salad for at least 6 hours before serving.
Some people like to chill it for 24 hours but's up to you.

Several other toppings you can swap out and use are: colorful bell peppers, avocados, carrots, broccoli, cauliflower, radishes, green onions corn, olives, diced cooked turkey, diced cooked ham, diced cooked chicken.
You can even swap out the iceberg lettuce for other ones like: Romaine lettuce, mixed spring lettuce, spinach leaves.
