I own Gibson Les Paul Junior in Vintage Tobacco and a Gibson Les Paul Special TV Yellow. Something about these guitars screams I am a F’ing Rock and Roll Machine. P90s driving through a Tube Screamer or Klon clone just makes my endorphins flow. The simplistic look and function of the Special and Junior Les Paul’s are a no-nonsense platform for music. Kind of like buying a car that does not have anything like power windows or locks but has an engine that will kick the ass of anything on the street. I paid $1700 plus for my Les Paul Special TV Yellow and when I put it side by side to my Epiphone version of this guitar I kind of get irritated that I paid that much because other than a slight difference in the yellow finish and the headstocks it is really a challenge to tell them apart. Plug them both into an amp and it gets even more difficult. The Epiphone Les Paul Special is part of Epiphone's Inspired by Gibson Collection and is designed to replicate the look and sound of the Gibson Les Paul Special. It features a Mahogany body with a reproduction TV Yellow finish with P-90 PRO soapbar single-coil pickups and CTS electronics. The Gibson model of this guitar goes new for $1799. Used 2019 and newer $1100 to $1400. A 33% to 39% loss in value. The Epiphone model 2020 and newer goes for $499 new and used for between $300 and $405. A 19% to 40% loss in value. Also note that the difference in price between the Gibson and Epiphone versions is $1300.
