Thank you all with the love I received on part 1 of this series! It is now close to 2 years since I quit social media. It is something that I could honestly say changed my life. I was able to find who I was and what my mission/purpose is supposed to be. Being able to take away the endless feed of negativity and do a dopamine detox like this can truly allow yourself to get control of your life. So after almost 2 years without social media what is my plan now? I think you may be surprised…
For the past couple months I have really reflected on what social media is as a whole and how we can shift it to being the tool I believe it was designed to be. The question kept running through my mind. Why did It never occur to me that YouTube is social media, and why did I have a healthy balance with it since I was a kid? I truly did not want to release or even discuss social media until I could at least get my head wrapped around it a little better, and it finally dawned on me when I was traveling recently. I was able to see people that had a healthy balance between documenting there life and those that completely ignored the servers or staff just to take photos of different things that “looked good”. I saw that there is a time and place with everything and a lot has to do with intention. What is your intention with the actions you are displaying, promoting, living. Social media is a wonderful mirror for that.
I will break down in my first “short film” my thoughts on social media and how it takes certain strategies to allow it to be in your life with a healthy balance.
