Patreon: loisdavidsonart  https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/OwlsAndF...  Today's demo is good practice for painting loose figures, a monochrome sketch of a group of very loosely painted figures and a distant city. Here I try to paint people by not painting people, just making loose marks to suggest them. If you try something like this, not all your figures will work, some of mine are a bit dodgy, but by the end of the exercise, you should have a better idea about creating the impression of people and groups of people for a loose painting.
Materials: Saunders Waterford cold pressed paper, 140lb, 11" x 15"/28cm x 38cm. Cotman paynes grey, various brushes, see video and a touch of white gouache, but use any dark colour and brushes you are comfortable with. My board is at an angle of about 45-65 degrees.
