Handmade brick maker at work.

The first trade/skill I learnt and was employed as was a hand made brick maker over 16 years ago. Today (19.2.2019) I still make handmade bricks and this video is a slowed down demonstration of the hand made brick making process I have mastered over these many years. A lot has changed since the birth of brick making. It first started with clay being taken out of the River Nile and wrapped in sand on the banks and left to cook in the sun. Today’s hand makers use box/slip/special moulds and various different types of clay and different sands to make a number of different shaped and coloured bricks. With today’s technology these bricks are fired in a kiln where the end product results in a hardened weather proof brick ready to be used in the construction and building industry.
