Following Russia’s invasion of Georgia in 2008, the Russians began to invest heavily in developing a network of organisations working around the world and spreading so-called Russian culture and soft power.
Russia has spawned dozens of such organisations, but the largest ones are Rossotrudnichestvo and Russkiy Mir Foundation. They have branches in 80 countries from Asia to South America.
