Istanbul is the largest city in Turkey, forming the country's economic, cultural, and historical heart. With a population of 13.5 million, the city is at the center of the second-largest metropolitan area in Europe and among the world's largest cities by population within city limits. Istanbul's vast area of 5,343 square kilometers (2,063 sq mi) is coterminous with Istanbul Province, of which the city is the administrative capital.

Straddling the Bosphorus—one of the world's busiest waterways—in northwestern Turkey, between the Sea of Marmara and the Black Sea, Istanbul is a transcontinental city. Its commercial and historical center is situated in Europe, while one third of its population lives in Asia.

This video features footage taken around the coastal areas of the European side of Istanbul. It features views of the city streets from a taxi, that we paid 20 Euros each for a three hour city tour - in hindsight I think we could have done this for less, or even explore using the tram system.

Featured within the video are the roads, streets, urban infrastructure, trams and chaotic traffic that are all a part and parcel of Istanbul. During the drive our taxi was hit by another car, I didn't get the footage of that, but at 8 minutes and 20 seconds our driver shouts a few choice words in Turkish towards the culprit! If anyone can translate please do!!!
