Zambia Shaolin Temple: 2023 Consecration Ceremony, Wushu Performance

Zambians and Chinese monks demonstrated Kung-Fu together at the consecration ceremony of the first Shaolin Temple in Africa, in Lusaka, on 2023-06-24. The performance covered many animal and weapons styles, and feats of strength including metal breaking, spear-splitting, and two-finger push ups. Attendance included practitioners from dozens of African countries, and an official delegation from the Shaolin Monastery in Henan, including Abbot Shi Yongxin. The performing children are orphans who live and study Kung-Fu and Chinese at the temple in the traditional way, and are trained by the monks. Shaolin's techniques have been passed down the generations for over 1500 years.
