The microphones are both super-cardioid microphones, which means they have a much tighter pick-up angle than a cardioid.
In addition to being super-cardioid, these microphones have specific capsules that dial them in for specialized yet versatile uses.
For the V7, its DMC7 dynamic capsule has a frequency range of 40 Hz - 19 kHz. Depending on the proximity effect, it will enhance how much low-end the microphone is picking up. It rolls off at around 50 Hz to soften that low end while enhancing 3k, 4k, and 11k while dipping between 6k and 8k. This frequency response fine-tunes the microphone for a smooth yet articulate sound for Vocals, speech, broadcasting, podcasting, electric guitar, and drums.
On the other hand, the V7 X DMC7 X dynamic capsule has a frequency range of 30 Hz - 19 kHz. Depending on the proximity effect, it will enhance how much low-end the microphone is picking up. Unlike the V7, the frequency range for the V7 X lifts the high end between 1k and tapers offer around 18k. This frequency response delivers a dynamic range to instruments like Acoustic guitar, electric guitar cab, bass guitar cab, orchestral + strings, piano, woodwinds, harmonica, brass, percussion, snare, toms, and vocals.
