The second-generation Honda BR-V has been introduced in the Philippines after being sold in Thailand and Indonesia. The seven-seat crossover is available in four variants, with prices ranging from 1.09 to 1.39 million Philippine pesos.
The all-new BR-V rides on a new platform with a stretched wheelbase and increased exterior dimensions, designed to combine the aesthetic elements of an SUV with the true utility of an MPV. This not only increases interior space, especially in the second and third rows, but it also gives the subcompact SUV a stronger, sportier stance.
The front fascia appears to borrow inspiration from the all-new Civic thanks to its sleeker LED headlights, more pronounced grille, restyled LED foglights, and sportier-looking bumper. The changes to the side profile may appear subtle but it now has a single character line that runs the entire length of the vehicle – further adding to the BR-V's crossover looks.
However, it is possible that the rear has received the most drastic redesign. It gets a more minimalist design that includes new wraparound LED taillights, a faux skid plate with black body cladding, and a larger tailgate spoiler.
The new model's dimensions are 4,490mm long, 1,780mm wide, and 1,685mm tall. It has a wheelbase of 2,700mm and a ground clearance of 207mm.
The interior of the all-new BR-V is efficiently designed to create an even more comfortable and spacious environment for all occupants. This model now has more legroom and headroom for passengers in each row, allowing them to enjoy the cabin more comfortably.
The new BR-V features a 4.2-inch digital multi-info display for the instrument panel, two-tone combination leather seat upholstery, automatic climate control with rear ceiling vents, a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple and Android connectivity, and an updated keyless entry and ignition with remote-start feature.
There are still seven seats available, distributed across three rows. Behind the third row, there's 244 litres of space. When folded down, it can hold up to 530 litres. Fold the second row completely and you'll gain 1,032 litres of space.
The all-new BR-V is powered by a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder i-VTEC engine. It produces 121 PS at 6600 rpm and 145 Nm of torque at 4300 rpm and is available with either a 6-speed manual transmission or a continuously variable transmission.
The vehicle is equipped with MacPherson struts in the front and a torsion beam in the rear. Front ventilated disc brakes and rear drum brakes provide stopping power.
