Address advances in surface engineering of materials with a focus on light alloys using electrolytic processes that are environmentally friendly. Such newer advanced surface technologies enable light metals to be used in aggressive and highly demanding environments that were considered impossible in the past. Wider use of lighter alloys also helps reduce manufacturing costs, recyclability and reduce carbon footprint and particulate matter emissions.

Professor Suman Shrestha, Vice President of Applications Engineering at Keronite and Visiting Professor at the University of Leeds, will cover applications in industry, underpinning technologies and how OEMs are applying light alloys and surface engineering to address ever growing materials challenges. The event is organised by the IMechE Tribology Group and will be moderated by Dr Liuquan Yang at the University of Leeds.
