This video shows you how to properly connect a seven segment display to Arduino, this is also lesson 27 in the Elegoo Mega tutorial you have in your Mega 2560 kit. The goal is to get a better understanding of this 1 digit display, understanding the pinout and how the connections should be made. After becoming comfortable with the 7 digit display and how to connect it properly, you may want to explore other ways of using what you have learned. Number displays come in many shapes and sizes including multiple digit displays and number display modules.
You may find the most difficult part of most projects is getting the code to work properly. A good start would be to manipulate the code in Arduino IDE and see how it effects the number display. Pay attention to the changes that are made and explore from there. Before you know it, you will be familiar with the code and what exactly what the board is telling the display to do. I have found it beneficial to spend time with 1 component at a time. Make sure you have a decent understanding of that component, how it is connected, and the code before you move on to another component.
