Ultar Sar is an extraordinarily steep and dangerous peak. Avalanches are such a constant hazard that some have opted to climb it only at night, as the hazards of the colder nighttime temperatures and lessened visibility far outweigh the omnipresent risk of being swept to their deaths by a powerful avalanche.
