SPIKE FIREFLY a miniature loitering munition for the maneuvering ground forces

SPIKE FIREFLY, a new member of the SPIKE FAMILY, is a miniature loitering munition meeting the challenges faced by maneuvering ground forces operating in dense urban areas. Enhancing situational awareness and extending reach up to 1.5 km, FIREFLY can remain airborne for 15 minutes, or 30 minutes with additional batteries. The system includes a dual seeker (IR/CMOS), proximity sensors, bidirectional data link, and detachable warhead compartment. When targets are detected, the operator locks onto them, attacking with pinpoint precision. FIREFLY can be recalled back to the operator at any time before the final attack command is issued. The munition, weighing only 3 kg, is typically provided as a kit which includes 3 loitering munitions, a control unit consisting of a ruggedized tablet, spare batteries, a charger, and a backpack. Lightweight and portable, the system can be carried and operated by a single soldier, and can also be supplied in a vehicle-mounted configuration, with launch enabled from within the IFV. FIREFLY has recently successfully participated in an AEWE evaluation in the US, exhibiting considerable impact during force-on-force exercises and evaluation.
