A new Sony Xperia Compact
A new Sony Xperia Compact smartphone recently leaked for launch in 2021, raising hopes that we'd see a new mini mobile released by Sony alongside fresh 'Mark 3' flagship phones. However, don't hold your breath for an upcoming Xperia 1 iii Compact just yet. These leaks show what appears to be a much more budget device with dual camera and notch. Something along the lines of a Sony Xperia L5.
It's been three years since we last saw a proper miniaturised version of one of the Japanese giant's smartphones, namely the XZ2 Compact from 2018. OnLeaks this week shared pics and started rumours that a successor could be on its way in 2021, but the photos we've seen appear to show a more budget friendly handset. So don't hold your breath for a Sony Xperia 1 iii Compact, just yet.
For one, there's no full-view display here. Rather you have a notch housing the selfie camera lens in what's reported to be a mini 5.5-inch screen. Likewise, the rear camera isn't a triple lens setup like the Xperia 1 iii and Xperia 5 iii, but a dual configuration. This will likely be a 13MP primary sensor and simple Ultra Wide Angle shooter.
