Compressible flow through Nozzle

When an incompressible fluid passes through a converging nozzle with particular velocity then the exit velocity depends only on inlet and exit areas. However when a compressible fluid i.e., gas or vapor passes through a converging nozzle then the exit velocity not only depends on the inlet  and exit areas of nozzle but also on some other thermodynamic factors. It is surprising that, for compressible fluid while passing through a converging nozzle, the exit velocity can even be lower than inlet velocity!
